I thought I'd create a format for bite-sized, periodic, irregular & informal updates, especially in these early days when everything is new. This won't replace my regular "Prayer-Intelligencer" format newsletters, but this might take some of the pressure off of them! :)
Greetings from Prague!
Thank you for "praying" me here! I arrived (together with my luggage) on Tuesday afternoon, a bit tired and covered in travel-funk, but no worse for wear. It was a remarkably smooth trip.
I was looking out the plane window as we approached Prague, recalling my first arrival, when I felt this uncanny sense that I would be living here some day. Twenty-two months later, and here we are! And I am so grateful--to God for his faithfulness through this crazy journey, and to you for your continued prayers.
My fellow Prague-based Alongsider, Micah, picked me up at the airport, and handed me a party hat. He apparently decided that the parking lot of the Prague airport as as good a spot as any for a birthday party. Then he drove me to my temporary flat, located in a building that used to be a shoe factory--massive smokestack and all. It's a top-floor loft-style flat which will be home for the next month or so, during which time I hope to find a more permanent residence.
Today is a holiday--the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, which is rather significant in this part of the world. This meant stocking up on food yesterday since all the stores are closed today.
I'm still waiting for word on my work visa. Please pray this gets resolved so I can begin settling in earnest. Pray also for language school, which starts in 10 days. And praise God, there is an offer on my house! We're in negotiations--an interesting process from across the ocean. Pray that this would conclude smoothly.
