Greetings from Prague!
It doesn't seem possible that it has been a week since I left the States. Time has flown, simply getting my bearings, figuring out where the grocery stores are, how the public transit works.
Prague has been easy to get around. All I need to do is plug in a street name and building number, and the public transit app provides all the info about how to get there, which Metro, tram or bus to take, where to walk, how long it will take, and even when the next vehicle will show up (with varying degrees of accuracy).
Friday night Micah invited me to join him and a couple of his missionary friends at a Buffalo-style wings place (great place and a lot of fun), and the next day I hung out with the other two guys as they showed me around their neighborhood, including a park with a villa and a vineyard. Sunday I visited a small dual-language church called Do Slova ("to the Word"), a church plant of a Presbyterian church, and enjoyed it. The bonus was that it was located right above a well-stocked Albert grocery store! Then today I visited the office of the Czech Evangelical Alliance (very close to where I am staying) and spent a couple hours there chatting with future colleagues (well one is about to return to his home country in the Netherlands). I got some pointers on how to find a place to live, open a bank account, get a local phone number.
Now I'm off to check out another nearby grocery store. When you carry all your groceries half a mile or more, it does change the way (and frequency) of shopping, especially when you're staring out with zero in the cupboards and fridge!
Blessings...until next time!
